BLOOD YOLK

“Blood Yolk” is an elegant, character-driven horror thriller about family, murder, and the price of redemption. In this world, the past defines everyone — and the question lingers: what would it take to cleanse us free?

After returning to her family’s decaying farm, an estranged writer confronts a dark secret that forces her to question her twin brother’s involvement in a string of murders — and her own capacity to kill.

STORY

After years away, Croia returns to her family’s decaying farm at a crossroads: her writing career has stalled, and the novel she once believed in remains unfinished. Her twin brother, Eli, has stayed behind, quietly maintaining the life she abandoned. Their reunion is uneasy - shaped by a shared past neither is willing to confront.

As Croia settles back in, fractures begin to surface. Eli’s behavior grows increasingly erratic, and whispers of violence ripple through the surrounding community. When a series of brutal murders comes to light, suspicion turns inward - forcing Croia to question not only her brother’s involvement, but her own connection to the darkness surrounding them.

In a world where blood runs deeper than truth, the line between witness and participant begins to blur.

A NOTE FROM THE CO-WRITER / DIRECTOR

How far would you go to protect the people you love? And at what point does that protection become something else entirely?

“Blood Yolk” began as an exploration of family - not as an ideal, but as something inherited, inescapable, and often unknowable. Co-written with lead actress Dani Alvarado, the story grew from a shared interest in the tension between who we believe we are and what we’re capable of under pressure. In this film, that tension lives between siblings - two people bound by the same origin, yet shaped by very different choices.

At its core, “Blood Yolk” examines identity, violence, and the stories we tell ourselves to survive. We like to believe that morality is fixed, that we can clearly separate right from wrong, but I’m more interested in the grey space - where love and harm coexist, and where the line between victim and perpetrator begins to dissolve. Croia’s journey is not just about uncovering a truth, but confronting the possibility that she has always been part of it.

From a filmmaking perspective, I wanted the film to feel grounded and immediate - lean, propulsive, and emotionally direct - while still holding space for atmosphere and unease. It’s a story that builds quietly, then refuses to let go.

Bringing “Blood Yolk” to life required an incredible collaboration between cast and crew, all committed to telling a story that doesn’t offer easy answers. After years of development, production, and post, I’m proud to share the film with you.
